12/28/91 - Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Pearl Jam @ O'Brien Pavilion, Del Mar Fairgrounds

What a bill, right? The Chili Peppers were headlining, with Pearl Jam opening, and Nirvana second. (I even think I've heard that the Smashing Pumpkins were SUPPOSED to be a part of this as well at one point. Something about the Billy Corgan - Courtney Love - Kurt Cobain triangle?)
"Teen Spirit" was just starting to blow up on MTV, and Pearl Jam would follow a couple of months later. I had just turned 18 a month before this show, and was a freshman at UCSD.
Needless to say, this was a great night. I remember Eddie Vedder climbing up above the lighting rig as the band jammed on Even Flow. He went up top on one side of the stage, made his away across, upside down, above the crowd, and then all the way back down the other side and right back into the song.
